Or Christopher Gorham:

Family:
Father – Harry Potter: Harry and James have a good relationship. They actually talk to one another and, while Harry will deliver the occasional lecture on Ginny's orders, more likely than not, he will probably just roll his eyes about whatever dumb thing James is up to now.
Mother - Ginevra “Ginny” Weasley Potter: James is more cautious with his mum than his dad, because she's usually much quicker to figure out when he is doing something wrong. She can be a little hard on him, but they're very close just the same.
Brother – Albus Severus Potter: James, though he teases Al terribly, considers Albus to be his best friend and most trusted ally, (even if he is in Slytherin?) even if he can be a big chicken when it comes to getting in trouble. James would do anything for Al.
Sister – Lily Luna Potter: James adores his baby sister and is very protective of her. Anybody--besides himself, of course--who bothers her had better watch out for themselves.
Honourary Brother - Teddy Lupin: James hero-worships him, it's as simple as that.
There's also a plethora of cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents of whom James is quite fond.

History: James has always had a highly ideal home life. Thankfully, he is aware of how lucky he has been and tries not to take his family for granted. He was born into a loving, affectionate family and was doted on, though miraculously not spoiled, by all of his many relatives. As the firstborn child of the "almighty" Harry Potter and famous Quidditch star Ginny Weasley, he was no stranger to attention, wanted and unwanted alike. From early childhood, when his parents were still often hounded by the press, James taught himself how to make the most of it, since there was nothing he could do about it and quickly learned to enjoy the spotlight. Being a member of the Weasley clan, though, could sometimes make it difficult to draw attention to himself. By the time Lily was born, when James was only three, he had learnt, without even consciously realizing it, that one of the most effective and fun ways to call attention to himself was to cause some sort of trouble.

As he got older, his parents unsuccessfully tried to rid James of his unfortunate habit. However, his Uncles George and Ron practically encouraged him in his attitudes, which they found amusing, and through their friendly goading, along with the constant presence of his siblings and cousins, he continued in his trouble-making ways, even growing to become quite competitive in his behaviour. He tried to keep it light and fun, though occasionally he would go a little bit too far. But anytime something he did made Albus or Lily cry, that was the end of it. The only thing that outweighed what he saw as his purpose in life (making sure that everyone knew how amusing he was) was his love for his family, especially Al and Lily. He could tease them as much as he liked, because that's just the James Potter way of doing things, but if anyone else did it, God help them.

When James started at Hogwarts, he was (not-quite-) secretly devastated to be leaving behind his Mum, Dad and siblings. He was excited to go to school, after the many stories his parents and uncles had told him over the years, but he was very attached to his family. His dad had always, always put his family before anything else and was never shy about making sure his children knew they were loved. His mum could be uncomfortably intuitive about his (mis)behaviour and was always quick to call him on whatever he was pulling at the moment, but James couldn't imagine what life would be like not seeing her everyday. So, reluctantly, he left for school. He was sorted immediately into Gryffindor, where he fit in very well, but he still missed his family. More than was probably normal. He wrote back and forth with his parents on a weekly basis, though he did his best to be discrete about it.

As he entered his second year, his brother Albus started and, in true annoying big brother fashion, he taunted Al mercilessly about having the exact same fears that James had had the year before. James was starting to earn himself a reputation at Hogwarts as a friendly mischief maker. During Christmas break that year, he discovered and stole the Marauder's Map from his father's study and, after struggling to figure out exactly what it was and what it did, he resorted to asking his ever-helpful Uncle George for help, which George was only too happy to provide. Since then, James has managed to get himself more detentions, at least according to Headmistress McGonagall, than any other student in the school records. The fact that James takes a great deal of pride in this dubious accomplishment does not endear him to his mother or grandmother, though he suspects that his father, like his uncles, is actually quite impressed with him. James has no qualms about enlisting his friends, Albus, his cousins, or even Lily on occasion, in his schemes.

He joined the Gryffindor Quidditch team in his third year as a Chaser and is quite good on a broom. He enjoys Transfiguration, DADA and Charms most out of all of his classes. James is most proficient with subjects that involve "foolish wand-waving" than he is with memorizing dates or hands-on assignments, such as in Herbology or Potions, though he manages alright. Also, he has managed to harrass his father into occasionally giving him some extra tips about DADA and related material, the sort of things that Auror trainees might know about, in order to "aid in his education". And, oddly enough, he also excels in Muggle Studies. Because of his record-setting detentions, he wasn't even considered as a prefect, though he claims he would have sent back the badge if anyone had dared to try and make him one.

Occupational History: James is still a student, this was supposed to be his last year at school, so he has been putting serious thought into what he wants to do as a career. His marks are good, but not great. He would love to play professional Quidditch, but he realizes that his chances for that aren't big, unless he uses his Son of the Great Harry Potter clout, which he doesn't really want to do. So, when he is thinking realistically, he is torn between asking his Uncle George to get him into the joke shop business or applying for a job with the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. He'd like to be an Obliviator or a Hit Wizard as opposed to working directly with his father as an Auror.

Personality: James is normally a fun-loving kind of guy, in a careless (AKA troublesome) kind of way, but he's also got a competitive streak that rears its head on a frequent basis. He is a very proud sort of fellow who doesn't mind bragging, so long as he's actually managed to accomplish what he's bragging about. He rarely exaggerates about his (mis)deeds and he scoffs at people who do. He is unexpectedly honest about a lot of things and, when people accuse him of lying in order to get away with whatever prank or scheme he's been up to, he is always quick to point out that omitting the truth is very different from lying about it and, should he get caught, he always lives up to his punishment.

He is still very attached to his family, especially Al and Lily, and they take priority over anything else in his life if they need him.

Plans for this character in game: I'm not really sure yet. It's hard to tell without talking to the people playing Lily, Albus, Harry or Ginny. I imagine James would love to meet his formerly-dead grandparents. He and James the older would probably get along famously. Really, though, I suppose he'll have to go to Hogwarts in order to graduate and get a job, whenever he eventually ends up.
Where did you hear about us? I play in Rise of Ancients. Jule was pimping you out on there and I thought it sounded interesting. (Three cheers for Joy!)

Umm... I'm going to go with Scott Mechlowicz. It might be a little while before I can get more than 2 or 3 icons, though, since GreatestJournal was the only place I was able to find any and it appears to be misbehaving.

And yes, just a couple questions.
1: Were the students of 2023 already at school when the tesseract opened?
2: If they were at Hogwarts when they got pulled back in time, when they arrive in 2000, do they arrive within the Hogwarts area?
3: Since the journal things have been around since 1999, are the future kids used to them already? Have they had them since they were kids, or what?

Uh, okay, clarification. Never mind about question 1. I figured out that it's a yes.

Question three is the one I'm most concerned with. What I'm incoherently trying to ask is whether or not, since the journals have been around so long by 20023, James would already have one upon his arrival in the past or if he'd need to have somebody give him one.

Good questions!

The kids were at Hogwarts when the Tesseract opened, but it only immediately sent Hugo back in time. The rest of the kids were taken back at different periods of time at different places. So, it's ultimately up to you if you want James to have been at Hogwarts or not, but it seems the likeliest of places. Also, just because they were taken by the Tesseract at Hogwarts doesn't mean they necessarily arrive in the past in Hogwarts. While the dead wake up exactly where they died, the way the Tesseract works makes it possible for the future to not only play with time, but space as well. Technically speaking James could show up in Tibet if you wanted!

And yes, the kids would be familiar with their journals, but they're only taken back in time with the things they have on them when the Tesseract hits. So if James had the journal with him when he was taken back in time he would have it in the year 2000, but if he didn't have it on him then he will need to purchase one or steal one.

So, I was thinking I'd have him fall through as he's about the implement a prank on some Slytherins. Thusly, he has his schoolbag with him at the time, containing: his journal, his charms textbook, the Marauder's Map, a bag of dungbombs he'd been planning to enchant, and assorted clutter of the variety that always seem to collect at the bottom of school bags. Is that okay?
